Service information for Coast Guard personnel who separated from service on or after October 1, 2006, must be requested via DPRIS.  For Coast Guard personnel who separated before October 1, 2006, submit the appropriate PIES request to address code 13.

Address Codes for STRs and Dental Records

 
Beginning September 1, 2014, the Coast Guard stopped sending paper STRs to RMC and began digitizing these records.  On June 1, 2015, the Coast Guard began uploading their digitized STRs into HAIMS.
 
The Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS) automatically generates a Coast Guard STRs request for members with release dates of September 1, 2014, or later.

Note:  Clinical records are retired to NPRC in annual collections by the creating hospital. They are typically retained for two calendar years before retirement. Teaching hospitals that maintain clinical record libraries may retain records up to five years before retirement to NPRC.

III.ii.2.E.9.a.  Address Codes for Service Personnel Records

 
For service, travel time, pay grade and other statistical information for Merchant Mariners employed by the War Shipping Administration or Office of Defense Transportation or their agents, and documented by the Coast Guard or Department of Commerce, use address code 52.
