Notes: For VA purposes:
- Radical mastectomy means removal of entire breast, underlying pectoral muscles, and regional lymph nodes up to the coracoclavicular ligament.

- Simple mastectomy means removal of all breast tissue, nipple, and a small portion of skin, sparing lymph nodes and muscles.
- Wide local excision includes partial mastectomy, lumpectomy, and similar procedures removing part of breast tissue.
